Praia, Aug 23 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verdean entrepreneur Luís Barros was elected administrator of the Bank for Investment and Development (BIDC) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), at the 15th General Assembly of this institution in Abuja (Nigeria).
According to a note sent to Inforpress, the name of the entrepreneur was proposed by the Government of Cabo Verde, represented in this meeting by the Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia, who participates as a ruler, informing that he will serve a two-year renewable term up to four years.
“The Government of Cabo Verde welcomes this election, which represents another important step in the strategy to promote Cabo Verdean staff in institutions of importance both in our subregion and in the world,” reads the same note.
The same document states that the election of Luís Barros also represents another “important step gained in the vast offensive” of this executive in the mobilization of resources for financing the private sector, as well as in the search for resources for public projects in Cabo Verde.
