Praia, Jun 18 (Inforpress) – The Deputy Secretary of State for the Prime Minister, Lourenço Lopes, said Thursday the media is a “crucial” sector for the functioning of democracy and the rule of law, citizenship and the development of Cabo Verde itself.
“We are feeling the pulse of the media area to consistently and objectively outline the best policies and strategies for this important sector,” said Lourenço Lopes.
The Deputy Secretary of State for the Prime Minister, who is responsible for the media, made these remarks to the press at the end of a visit to the Private Media Association of Cabo Verde (AMPCV) and the newspapers ANação and the Expresso das Ilhas, which are published in Praia.
“When the Prime Minister brings the media to his tutelage, it is a clear sign of the importance this sector have for the Government and for Cabo Verde,” the ruler said, adding that sometimes, when it comes to the media, it focuses on the public media.
