Local Elections 2020: CNE calls for compliance with the rules governing the principles of equality on the candidacies

Praia, Oct 8 (Inforpress) – The National Elections Commission (CNE) called Wednesday for compliance with the rules governing the principles of equality on he candidacies in the electoral period, in addition to a set of sanitary measures to be respected.

The appeal was made to the press by the CNE’s president, Maria do Rosário, explaining that the electoral campaign has a structural and fundamental role in the electoral process, as an organization of a democratic rule of law, governed by the principles of equality, the opportunity to treat the diverse candidacies.

In this regard, she stressed that the principle of impartiality and neutrality of public entities and of all public authorities are fundamental, in addition to the principle of transparency and monitoring of electoral accounts.

She stated that it is relevant that candidates are aware that all expenses incurred and resources mobilized during the election campaign must be accountable to CNE, with the aim of ensuring that the process was financed in a legal and transparent manner.
