Praia, Apr 19 (Inforpress) – Provisional data from sunday’s legislative elections indicate an abstention rate around 41.7 percent (%), according to platform www.eleicoes.cv, at 11 PM.
The Movement for Democracy (MpD), led by Ulisses Correia e Silva, walked ahead with 49.2% of the votes, however the number of abstentions continued to dominate the elections in the country, that is 379.615 registered, only 220.368 of the voters went to the polls.
According to the same provisional data, when 93.9% of the 1.480 polling stations were counted, there were 2.430 white votes (1.1%) and 3.015 null votes (1.4%).
The legislative of today for the election of 72 MPs, in 13 constituencies, of which ten in the country and three in the diaspora, competed six parties – PAICV, MpD, UCID, PTS, PSD and PP.
PAICV, MpD and UCID competed in all constituencies, PP in six constituencies (South Santiago, North Santiago, Boa Vista and the three in the diaspora), PTS also in six constituencies (São Vicente, South Santiago, North Santiago and three diaspora), and PSD in four constituencies (North Santiago, South Santiago, America and Africa).
The last legislative elections in Cabo Verde took place on March 20, 2016, with the Movement for Democracy (MpD) winning with an absolute majority, by electing 40 MPs, PAICV 29 and UCID three.
