Praia, Jan 25 (Inforpress) – The president of the Cabo Verdean Association for the Prevention of Alcoholism (ACPA) said today that approval of the law on alcohol s a big gain and its application will significantly reduce its consumption in Cabo Verde.
Luís Xavier, speaking to Inforpress, said that ACPA has always argued that the fight against alcoholism must go through active and continuous prevention, involving all civil society institutions in the country.
In the opinion of the person in charge, the approval of the law that regulates the availability, sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places open to the public and places of work represents a great gain for the country, believing that it will reinforce the actions of prevention and combat against this scourge.
“I believe that this law will provide effective responses to the fight against alcoholism in Cabo Verde. For us, the essential thing is not only the creation of the law, but also its enforcement and compliance”, he said, adding that the law has brought innovations that will contribute to a significant reduction of excessive consumption of alcohol in Cabo Verde.
