Praia, Jun 18 (Inforpress) – The president of the Platform of African Immigrated Communities, José Viana, said Wednesday that the lack of documents regularization continues to hamper opportunities and migrants’ rights in Cabo Verde, thus compromising their integration.
José Viana made this statement to Inforpress, explaining that he took this concern to a meeting with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, to together, Government and platform, find a solution.
“It is necessary to know how many people are in this situation, because it is a constraint must be overcome”, he pointed out.
The official said that he addressed the issue with the competent institutions for extraordinary legalization, but even with this possibility, migrants would have to have some regular documentation to resolve the pending issues. “They often depend on families to deal with documentation in the country of origin, but it takes time to resolve these issues,” he said.
