Mindelo, Oct 8 (Inforpress) – The traders in São Vicente, especially supermarket and grocery store owners in the city of Mindelo, complain that the lack of coins has caused difficulties in their business, especially at the time to give changes to customers.
Ivone Santos, head of a supermarket in the downtown, told Inforpress that the traders has long struggled to give changes to customers for lack of available coins.
“The situation is general, there are not enough coins. We have been beginning to feel this currency crisis since June, but the situation has worsened further in recent days. Always the shortage of coins was felt at the end of the year and sometimes in the summer, but now long before the summer you can not find enough coins”, reported the responsible.
The same source said she has already made “several requests to banks in São Vicente and say there is unavailability of coins”, but we do not see this. Alternatively, “she asked to friends traders on the island of Santo Antão not to have to close the doors.”
