KJF 2017: Organization says the festival continues to “not be a good deal” nor even “sustainable”

Praia, April 17 (Inforpress) – The organizers of the Kriol Jazz Festival, which ended Sunday morning, said that the event remains “not a good deal” nor “sustainable”, but the focus is on culture “which is priceless.”

The statement is from the Mayor of Praia, Oscar Santos, and the director of the Harmonia company, Jose “Djô” da Silva, organizers of the event that took place on April 8, at Fundo Cobom with the “Kriol Zone” and on the April 14th and 15th with stages in Luis de Camoes Square for concerts and in Kebra Canela with musical entertainment with DJs.

“Good business, I will not say, culture is priceless,” argued the Mayor, adding that the City Hall has invested more than 15 million escudos each year in the KJF, which he considered a “very important city brand”.

Meanwhile, the producer Djô da Silva said that “it has been difficult to organize the KJF” in Cabo Verde, taking into account the “small market”, stressing, however, that this year if everything goes as planned they will have for the first time revenues.
