Praia, Oct 25 (Inforpress) – The representative of the Cabo Verdean Independent and Democratic Union (UCID-opposition party), João Santos Luís, said today that, despite “huge investment in the last five years in Justice” the results are still “far from satisfying the Cabo Verdeans.
“Unfortunately, justice is still what it is,” said the elected one in the party’s Christian Democrat list, for whom the recent “confusion” between the data of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and those of the government shows a “clear interference” in the judiciary in Cabo Verde, that “should never be admitted”.
The UCID MP made these considerations in the debate in the parliament on the situation of Justice in the country.
According to the MP, the problem of justice is not limited to numbers, since there are “difficulties with infrastructure” and pointed to the building that houses the Court of Appeal and first instance in the city of Assomada (Santa Catarina) although it is new, when it rains, people have to have buckets in their hands to walking from one side to the other to draw water.
