Journalists Fretson Rocha, Ricardino Pedro and Daniel Almeida win the 1st edition of the Journalism Award

Praia, May 12 (Inforpress) – Journalists Fretson Rocha, Ricardino Pedro and Daniel Almeida won the first edition of the Financial Journalism Award created by the Cabo Verde Stock Exchange in order to contribute to the promotion of the company’s financial education.

Fretson Rocha, a journalist from Radio Morabeza, was ranked 1st, with the report entitled “Offshore Financial Institutions”, having received 250.000 escudos, the 2nd place was for journalist Ricardino Pedro, from Lusa News Agency, who competed with the report “Savings / Entrepreneurship”, he received 150.000 escudos and journalist Daniel Almeida, from the ANação newspaper, 3rd place, with the theme “The privatization of TACV”, receiving 100.000 escudos.

The announcement was made this afternoon by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cabo Verde Stock Exchange (BVCV), Miguel Monteiro, and stressed in his speech that financial literacy is a long way and the award is only one step towards achieving the goal of having a society that know and aware of existing financial instruments.

He highlighted the “relevant” and “irreplaceable” role of the media as a frontline partner in this challenge that is of the entire Cabo Verdean society, stressing that BVCV wants to establish with this sector a closer and fruitful relationship.
