Assomada, Mar 20 (Inforpress) – The former Prime Minister and current President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, confessed this Monday, in Assomada, that he would like to finish his political career in Santa Catarina, as the Mayor of that municipality that saw him born.
“It is a debt I owe to Santa Catarina. I ran for Mayor of the City Hall, I won [in 2000] and I stayed here for only one year, and I would like to be able to serve my municipality more closely”, explained Neves, who turns 62 on March 28.
The Head of State was speaking to journalists after an « open conversation » with 12th grade students from Amílcar Cabral High School, in Assomada, Santa Catarina, where he expressed this desire, and even shared his life story as a student, who was always concerned with studies and development of Cape Verde.
“I don’t know if it will be possible, I don’t know if it will be just a utopia, if it will be an unrealizable dream, but this is my last dream, let’s see if it is possible”, he concluded, without, however, advancing that he intends to realize his “last dream” in 10 or 15 years.
