José Maria Neves Foundation highlights “extraordinary importance” of Socialist International in Africa

Praia, Nov 15 (Inforpress) – The José Maria Neves Foundation considered the Socialist International, particularly the Africa Committee, to be “extraordinarily important” for the liberation of the African continent, reflected in the transition meeting in South Africa in Johannesburg after the release of Nelson Mandela.

José Maria Neves made these remarks to Inforpress after receiving this afternoon the secretary general of the Socialist International, Luís Ayala, and recalled the role played by this international organization in the independence of Namibia, the transition process in Zimbabwe, peace in Palestine and consolidation of democracy in several African countries.

The former prime minister praised the fact that he could talk to the international leaders of the Socialist International, especially from the “perspective of sustainable development” of countries, to defend and promote the citizens’ rights, freedoms and guarantees, but essentially to “develop inclusive, fairer and more equal”.

José Maria Neves, who ruled Cabo Verde from 2001 to 2016, considered the “Socialist International in the World” as “extraordinarily important” for the future of Africa and humanity, but above all inclusive, fair development and more opportunities for all Africans”.
