Praia, Feb 16 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Santos, pointed out, in the city of Praia, the security of citizens and their property as the main function of a modern state.
The statement was made Monday in the opening speech of the video surveillance system at the National Assembly building, recalling that the lack of security or its deterioration causes social instability, a climate of fear and disorganization in the lives of people and institutions.
Therefore, he recalled that in recent days, Parliament has debated “deeply” security in the diverse views of parliamentary members, pointing out, however, that this issue is “recurrently” debated at the Cabo Verdean parliamentary house.
“The State has, in the first place, the mission of guaranteeing a level of security that provides peace and tranquility to society and people. Nowadays, the phenomenon is of an international nature, and in several contexts the fight against insecurity requires concerted and cooperative action ”, he noted.
