Jorge Carlos Fonseca did not discuss with Israeli PM voting processes in the international instances – Presidency of the Republic


Praia, Aug 9 (Inforpress) – The presidency of the republic today clarified in a statement that Jorge Carlos Fonseca did not discuss with the Israeli Prime Minister voting processes in the different international instances during the recent meeting between the two statesmen.

This denial is relatedf to news published by various national and international media and social networks which echoed a publication by Benjamin Netanyahu through the social network “Twitter”, noting that in a meeting with Jorge Carlos Fonseca , there was a commitment that Cabo Verde will not vote against Israel.

“Specific aspects of Cabo Verdean diplomacy, such as voting processes in different international forums, as well as mechanisms for their implementation, through representatives of Cabo Verde, have not been addressed, much less discussed, since they imply an articulation between the two bodies of sovereignty, according to the powers of each of them,” said the statement of the Presidency of the Republic.

The press note also states that the Head of State “will remain fully available to collaborate with the Government in the realization of a foreign policy based on the values ​​of democracy, freedom, the defense of human rights and always guided by the intransigent defense of Cabo Verde’s interests, a decisive criterion for the definition of concrete strategies, policies and actions. ”
