Praia, Apr 26 (Inforpress) – “Young Women in ICT” is the theme of a lecture held this Thursday at the Jean Piaget University, aiming to raise the awareness of young women about career opportunities in the area of Technologies of Information and Communications.
According to the Global Initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ICT), “Girls in ICT Day” has the participation of the Unipiaget of Cabo Verde, as “the advancement of ICT has directly influenced all areas of human activity, convinced that “in postmodern times new world contexts are evidenced, in which it seeks to promote the participation and the emancipation of the human being”.
For this year, the lecture was directed exclusively at the students of the 11th grade of Regina Silva de Achadinha school, and the university’s rector, Wlodziemierz Szymaniak, said that it is intended, first of all, to break with some stereotypes that consider the technologies as being of men’s domains.
To Inforpress, Szymaniak explained that lately the university has been observing the growing interest of girls in the areas of information and communication technologies, which he considers to be “very positive” for today’s society.
