Jayla Pina wins bronze medal again at African Swimming Championships

Praia, Oct 14 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean swimmer Jayla Pina achieved her second bronze medal at the African Swimming Championships on Wednesday, 13rd, making history for Cabo Verde, which again reaches the podium in an international competition in the sport.

The 17-year-old, who took part in the 50-metre junior and senior, twice managed to reach third place.

With the first medal, in statements to Inforpress, the president of the Cabo Verdean Swimming Federation, Avelino Bonifácio, highlighted this achievement for the athlete and for the country, being historic for Cabo Verde to have achieved a podium in international competitions in the sport.

The national delegation is made up of brothers Jayla, Troy and Latroya Pina, who live in the United States, plus three resident athletes, Ailton Lima (national champion), Cléo Stiven Lima and Erica Soares, swimmer from Tarrafal de Santiago and who currently lives in Senegal.
