Praia, Apr 30 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde will receive from the Japanese government today 1.445 tons of rice, a donation will meet the challenges of Food and Nutrition Security in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communities said Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry clarified that this support falls within the scope of the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and constitutes a donation from the Japanese government for fiscal year 2019.

This food aid, which took place from April 3 to 8 in the port of Praia, states the same source, includes two varieties of rice being one of Japanese origin and the other one Thai.

“Japanese food aid has been helping the Cabo Verdean authorities respond to the challenges related to Food and Nutrition Security, contributing to increased availability of cereals and price stability on the market,” the note said, noting that in October 2020, Cabo Verde received the first shipment of 2.629 tons of wheat.
