Praia, May 10 (Inforpress) – PAICV President Janira Hopffer Almada said Saturday that Cabo Verde has already made “big gains” in the fight for gender equality and parity, but call uss for “a certain female machismo.”
The African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV) leader, who was the only woman who led a political party in the legislative elections of last April 18, in the total of six political parties (MpD, PAICV, UCID, PTS, PP and PTS), posted on her social network page that “the path remains to be done is still long, very long!”
“The rejection of women in certain positions does not happen only by men! In Cabo Verde there is a certain female machismo”, said the leader of the largest opposition party.
This reality cannot be denied, Almada said, “it is worth the country to continue to have this rejection over the years”, convinced that this reality must be taken into account “as soon as possible, for the sake of the new generations”.
