City of Praia, 12 Sep (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic José Maria Neves considered today that the time has come for the Cape Verdean people to think with their own heads as requested by Amílcar Cabral, so that the country can overcome the challenges facing put.
In a message commemorating September 12, 2023, which marks Amílcar Cabral’s 99th birthday and the beginning of the celebrations for the first centenary of his birth, the nation’s highest magistrate reflected on the important legacy of this unique figure in Cabo Verde’s history , Africa and the World: “Think with our own heads” about the challenges of today’s world “undergoing profound and radical transformation”.
“September 12, 2023, the day on which we remember the birth of Amílcar Cabral, a man who donated his youth to the cause of the liberation of Africa and who fought uncompromisingly to defend the dignity of African women and particularly Guineans and Cape Verdeans, Cabral asked us to think with our own heads”, recalled the President of the Republic.
According to the Head of State, the current context we are experiencing, the world in the process of transfiguration, with geostrategic wars, climate change, inequalities among rich industrialized and developed countries and poor countries, putting future generations at risk, is the time for Cape Verdeans to think with their “own heads”.
