Praia, May 2 (Inforpress) – The Institute of Cultural Heritage (IPC) today promotes a reflection on the management of religious heritage in Ribeira Grande de Santiago, Cidade Velha, in partnership with the Diocese of Santiago and the City Hall.
According to the IPC president invitation, Charles Akibodé, the day of reflection called “Religious Heritage in Ribeira Grande de Santiago (Cidade Velha), World Heritage – between the safeguard and the challenges of valorization”, will take place in the San Francisco Convent.
The objective is to reflect on the management of Religious Heritage (architectural, intangible and museological), in terms of its conservation, intervention and usufruct, as he explained, adding that it will make possible the operationalization of the precepts established in the agreement signed in 2013 between the Holy See and The State of Cabo Verde.
In this way, it will be possible, in his opinion, to “resolve” possible areas of conflict regarding this management, emphasizing that the classification of the historic site of Cidade Velha to World Heritage in June 2009 was based on its potential Historical and patrimonial, whether cultural or natural.
