Praia, Jan 27 (Inforpress) – The Cultural Heritage Institute presented Tuesday an Inventory of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ribeira Grande de Santiago catalogue, a document that appears as one of the products of the community-based inventory in the field of intangible cultural heritage.
The presentation of the document, which took place at the Cultural Center of Cidade Velha, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago, was in charge of the Intangible Heritage director from the IPC, Sandra Mascarenhas, also project’s coordinator.
This catalogue, according to the IPC, is the result of a process led by communities members from Salineiro, Calabaceira and Centro Histórico and was also supported by local non-governmental entities and organizations.
“One of the objectives for its elaboration was the recognition of the role of communities as workers in the process of safeguarding the local heritage, enabling them to prepare and practice the inventory of their intangible cultural heritage”, informed the project’s coordinator.
