Praia, May 27 (Inforpress) – Economist José Agnelo Sanches said on Saturday that Cabo Verde needs to work on the prospective of competitiveness and better integration for future membership of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The consultant for the African regional economic integration area also spoke to Inforpress during the African Day on Saturday about AfCFTA, a continental free trade agreement signed in March 2018 by 49 of the 55 States and provides for a large free trade area.
The official launch of the agreement establishing AfCFTA is scheduled for next July at the Union Heads of State and Government Summit in Niemey.
The 22 ratifications necessary for the entry into force of this agreement, which aims to promote the development of intercontinental trade, were achieved on April 2, 2019 with the ratification of the Gambia.
