Intellectual Property: ARIPO Director-General visits Cape Verde

Praia, Apr. 11 (Inforpress) – The Director-General of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), Bemanya Twebaze, begins a four-day visit to Cape Verde today, Tuesday, following the country’s request to join the organization.

In a press release, the government stated that Cape Verde deposited the accession instruments to the ARIPO Protocols in July 2002, making the country the 22nd member state of this organization.

As part of this accession, the same source reports that a visit to the Institute of Management, Quality, and Intellectual Property (IGQPI), the entity responsible for implementing the ARIPO protocols, is scheduled for Tuesday.

On the same day, Bemanya Twebaze will be received by the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Energy, Alexandre Monteiro, followed by a joint press conference.
