Praia, Jun 10 (Inforpress) – The director of the Metrology Service, José António Carvalho, said the Government intends to train professionals working in the pre-packaged products sector to understand the legal requirements packers must comply with.
José Carvalho, who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of Wednesday’s workshop in Praia on the metrological control of pre-packaged, said that this initiative follows the entry into force of the decree and the requirements have to do with packaging rules.
“This is intended to raise awareness among national packers and producers, as well as those exporting to Cabo Verde about compliance with technical requirements, whose main objective is to protect consumers and domestic companies,” he said.
For the technical consultant, Cristina Barros, it is”important” to check the amount of product is packaged in the absence of the consumer. She recalled that there is now legislation in Cabo Verde allowing official entities, in this case the Institute for Quality and Intellectual Property Management (IGQPI, which carries out annually the metrological verification of the quantity of packaging and thus “safeguard consumer rights”.
