Praia, Jul 16 (Inforpress) – INPS spent up to June 1, 2020, more than 641 million escudos on the payment due suspension of employment contract, unemployment benefit, solidarity income and prophylactic isolation allowance.
The information was given to the press by the president of the National Institute of Social Security (INPS), Orlanda Ferreira, during a conference held in Praia, to celebrate the National Social Security Day.
As said by the responsible person, in 2019, 21.344 people were enrolled in the INPS, representing a total of 45.7% of the resident population, 105.27 of whom are active, translating into a total coverage of 51% of the employed population in Cabo Verde.
“National coverage shows that we have already exceeded the target set for the year 2021. On the other hand, if we take into account the population covered, in terms of social security under the contributory regime, we have also approached 46%, which shows thatwe make progress,” he said.
