ICIEG welcomes reduced femicide cases, but concerned with ppending cases and unresponsive

Praia, Nov 26 (Inforpress) – The president of the Cabo Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), Rosana Almeida, welcomed the considerable decrease in femicide cases in the country, but expressed concern regarding to pending cases and unresponsive.

Rosana Almeida made this speech to the press, this Monday on the sidelines of the presentation of the Study on Feminicide, promoted by ICIEG in partnership with UNDP, which took place in the city of Praia.

He said the institution welcomed the fact that Cabo Verde is going against the world scenario, which points to 137.000 women victims of femicide in 2018, with only one case contrasting with the eight that occurred last year.

She explained that “they are major loss” and leads to increasingly attacking this problem, betting on an institutional culture, working with secondary students, introducing the gender equality module in secondary education, betting on community leaders, continuing training, “in an attempt to promote” a close articulation to combat this phenomenon.
