ICIEG attends the Regional Open Day of Gender, Women, Youth, Peace and Security taking place in Guinea-Bissau

Praia, Nov 23 (Inforpress) -The President of the Institute for Gender Equality and Equity, Marisa Carvalho, attends this Tuesday, the 23rd, in Guinea-Bissau, the Regional Open Day of Gender, Women, Youth, Peace and Security 2021.

The meeting, which is promoted by the Guinean Government, ECOWAS Commission and UN Women’s Regional Offices, aims to discuss and share best practices on the effective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in West Africa and Sahel.

According to a press release, this year the participants at the meeting will define the priority actions and initiatives to be undertaken, with a view to improving the results and impact of the implementation of Resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security in the region.

The same source also said that this Open Day will also be an opportunity to discuss new initiatives and appropriate approaches to direct efforts to prevent, manage and consolidate peace and conflict resolution, with a view to acquiring the means to accelerate the implementation of the “women, peace, security” program in West Africa and the Sahel.
