HIV-AIDS: National network for people with disabilities denounces “social stigma, stereotypes and inequalities”

Praia, Dec 1 (Inforpress) – The National Network for People with the HIV-AIDS virus today denounced the “social stigma, stereotypes and inequalities” constitute barriers to the integration of people living with this disease in Cabo Verde.

By intervening in the central act of World Aids Day, which is celebrated today, under the theme “Ending inequalities, ending AIDS, ending the pandemias”, the network’s representative, Josefa Rodrigues, urged those responsible to introduce HIV self-testing and timely diagnosis in the country to “eradicate inequalities”.

This as a way of giving everyone the opportunity to know their status and to have access to treatment “as soon as possible”, she said.

She took the opportunity to extend this request for the inclusion of people living with HIV, with advanced ages in the social protection system.
