Praia, Jun 7 (Inforpress) – The Women’s senior handball team of Cabo Verde is already in Cameroon where it will participate in the 24th African Cup of Nations, CAN 2021.
The national team delegation, which left Sunday, the 6th, from Cabo Verde made a stopover in Senegal, and then in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), before traveling to Cameroon. The president of the Cabo Verdean Handball Federation, Tony Teixeira, who is part of the national delegation, told the RCV that it was a tiring trip, so they are now resting and then preparing for the next clashes.
Tony Teixeira also said that when the delegation arrived in Cameroon had to do new tests on the COVID-19 and all were negative. The same luck, however, did not have the Guinea-Conakry team because two athletes test positive for the new coronavirus, so they will not be able to play.
According to the schedule of the African Handball Confederation, Cabo Verde debuts on Wednesday, the 9th, against its counterpart from Angola in group C game, to return to play on Friday, the 11th, to play against the national team of Congo.
