Government wants to transform the 65 thousand young people without occupation into an added value for society – MpD Parliamentary Group

Praia, Jan 25 (Inforpress) – The MpD Parliamentary Group announced today the government’s policy of transforming the “65.000 Cabo Verdean young people who currently do not work, study or even attend internships or vocational training programs” in an added value to society.

The MP Luís Carlos Silva made these considerations in the context of visiting contacts with various institutions and State services, in preparation for next week’s plenary session, in order to “ensure that youth take a leading role in the national politics agenda”.

This spokesperson said that “Cabo Verde has a systemic youth problem”, claiming that it has for many years been the target of insensitive policies that have made youth a liability to the country, relegating it to the background, when it is usually “a corporate asset”, which should be a transformative factor.

This parliamentarian stated that the Government is “properly aware” in this chapter, since the State Budget for 2019 is focused on youth, with funds that have only been multiplied by ten years, from 30 million escudos per year to 300 million, in order to generate about 5000 internship programs for youth.
