Pedra Badejo, Feb 16 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Agriculture and Environment announced the Government wants to massify the project to install a pilot irrigation unit with desalinated water (UADR) at national level, so that farmers will have an alternative for production.
Gilberto Silva made this announcement Monday on the sidelines of the inauguration of the pilot irrigation unit with desalinated water, for horticultural production, in Ribeira de Aguada, in Santa Cruz.
With this project, which was already installed in Moia Moia, in the municipality of São Domingos, and now arrives in Ribeira de Aguada, in Santa Cruz, according to the government official, they are beginning a “new era” in water management in Cabo Verde.
“This type of project is going to be widespread in the national context so that we are less dependent on rainfall. This second project is being installed here will bring a lot of experience in the production, distribution and management of water, with adapted crops so that we can achieve more production (…) and more income”, he stressed.
