Government signs a contract with APP for the implementation of photovoltaic solar plants and energy acquisition

Espargos, November 30, 2022 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, reiterated this Tuesday, in Sal, the Government’s desire to reach more than 50% penetration of renewable energy by 2030, and signs a contract with the company Águas de Ponta Preta for this purpose.

The signing of contracts for the implementation of two photovoltaic solar power plants and the acquisition of 5MW of energy on the islands of São Vicente and Sal, with the company Águas de Ponta Preta, was witnessed by the Prime Minister, accompanied also by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Energy , Alexandre Monteiro, during an act that took place in the Town Hall.

“We are accelerating the energy transition”, commented Ulisses Correia e Silva, appreciating the dedication of the company Águas de Ponta Preta (APP), which, as he underlined, has been a “great partner” in this endeavor that the country has been developing.

“So that we can, in fact, within the established deadlines, and eventually anticipate, reach more than 50 % of renewable energies with penetration in terms of production and distribution, so that we can replace our dependence on fossil fuels”, said the head of the government.
