Porto Novo, Jan 22 (Inforpress) – Five thousand seven hundred teachers across the archipelago have, in recent years, resolved their backlogs on the part of the Government, representing an expense of more than 800 millio escudos annually, revealed Friday, the Minister of Education.
“The Government has resolved, so far, backlogs benefiting 5.700 teachers, spending more than 800 million escudos a year, to respond to the financial impacts related to the pending issues”, stressed Amadeu Cruz, who was speaking to the press, in Porto Novo, at the end of a five-day visit to Santo Antão.
The holder of the Education portfolio, on his first visit to Santo Antão, guaranteed that his ministry will “continue to work to ensure the resolution of pending issues and the stabilization of the teaching career”, remembering that, last week, a ordinance through which the Government covered 186 teachers with subsidies for not reducing the workload.
This week was published in a new ordinance in which the transition from assistant teachers to the teachers at the basic and secondary education in the level one was made, within the scope of the implementation of the teaching career statute, said the government official, who also announced a package of investments in education sector, covering several islands in the country.
