Porto Novo, Aug 17 (Inforpress) – The Government will invest in 2018 two million escudos in the requalification of all cities in Cabo Verde, an amount made available under the tourism fund, announced today the Prime Minister in Santo Antão.
Ulisses Correia e Silva, who started a two-day visit to Santo Antão on Wednesday, the second in about a month, explained that the “strong investment” that his executive intends to make in urban regeneration aims to provide cities in the country with quality, which is necessary for tourism and for the population.
“We decided to apply a large ammount from the tourism fund (50%) in partnership with all municipalities to make a strong investment in urban renewal in 2018,” said the head of the Government, the tourism requires a high environmental level and a good urban organization, in addition to the security environment.
The Prime Minister also regretted that Santo Antão was losing part of its young population, which he said was “an irreplaceable and increasingly scarce resource”, but announced that the Government has priority for Santo Antão to adopt a “strong regional development program”, aimed at transforming this island “into an economy capable of generating employment and income and of being able to fix the populations”.
