Praia, Jan 18 (Inforpress) – The Government guaranteed this Tuesday the extension of social protection to all Cape Verdeans, especially those belonging to “more vulnerable” groups, at risk and difficult to cover, so that they benefit from a protection regime.
According to the Minister of Family, Inclusion and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire, it aims to expand social protection with “essential instruments” that will be developed in the near future. The Minister made this statement speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the opening of the workshop to present the study on the Fiscal Space for Social Protection in Cape Verde, this morning, at Praia.
With this aim, the minister listed “a profound reform” of the social security system, which meets the new benefits and diseases, which allows “greater speed” in the expansion of social protection, mainly introducing the so-called labor professions, independent professionals and those in the informal sector.
Secondly, he continued saying, the reform of the Labor Code, also in the sense of promoting employment, increasing employability, the ability of young people to enter the labor market and giving “higher priority” to the issue of social security and their enrollment, in addition to the labor administration reform, responsible for supervision.
