Government creates Cabo Verde Embassy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Praia, Jan 18 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verde Government creates the Cabo Verde embassy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, based in Abuja, whose purpose is to strengthen and elevate the excellence of its relations, according to a publication in the Bulletin Official.

According to Decree-Law No. 6/2021, published this Monday in the Official Electronic Bulletin (BOE), the creation of the embassy comes from the need to ensure better diplomatic coverage in the West African sub-region to ensure more effective protection of national interests.

The creation of the embassy is also justified by the fact that Nigeria is “strategic for any West African country due to its political and economic weight in the sub-region and, in addition, the host state of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) ), a sub-regional organization to which Cabo Verde has been a part since 1976”.

That is why, according to the publication, a permanent and high-level presence of Cabo Verde in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is essential in order to increase bilateral relations between the two countries and to systematically and actively monitor the evolution of the regional integration process, ensuring better insertion of the country in the sub-region.
