Praia, Nov 30 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Internal Affairs today called “important” the training course to develop an early warning system for floods, droughts and other natural threats in the country.
Paulo Rocha made these considerations at the opening ceremony of the seminar on “Development of a flood monitoring system in Cabo Verde”, where he also stressed that the governance program, for this legislature, has security as a “fundamental pillar” of the Democratic rule of law and a presupposition “indispensable” to the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms.
“This training course is of paramount importance, not only because it is one of the key components of the emergency preparedness and response system, but also because it will allow national response structures to align knowledge for building a people-centred multi-hazard early warning system,” he said.
Paulo Rocha, who considers it to be a work that needs to be improved so that the overall response is integrated and reduces the risks of loss of human life, also stressed that the project is composed of three complementary components, namely the development of the monitoring system, the capacity of its use and improvement in Community-wide and participation.
