Government approves new charter of educational policy for the country with emphasis on universalization 


Praia, July 12  (Inforpress) – The Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday a new charter of educational policy that will define the paths of education in the coming years with emphasis on the access universalization to the education system of pre-school students to the 12th grade.

At a press conference, Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fernando Elísio Freire, advanced that the proposal of the Cabo Verde Educational Charter for the period 2016-2021, already approved, will be sent to Parliament for discussion and approval, but the Government believes that the next academic year 2017/18 will begin the process.

“Cabo Verde wants to create a service economy that is anchored in tourism, transportation and financial services, and for that it is required to the education system to have a profile in the exit, and Cabo Verdeans with domains in cosmopolitan foreign languages ​​and with values,” he explained the reason for the approval of this instrument.

The access universalization to the education system of students from 4 to 17 years, that is, from preschool to the 12th grade, eliminating income as a factor limiting access and exit from the formal system of all students with the competence to be able to raise the job market, are parameters set for education in the coming times.
