Praia, Oct 19 (Inforpress) – The Government will, in the next five years, invest 50 million euros in the Operational Tourism Programme to transform cultural, environmental and heritage potential into tourism products that add value to local and national economies.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, at the opening of the National Tourism Forum, taking place in the city of Praia, in the framework of the 1st Cabo Verde Week Tourism, promoted by InfoPlus, owner of the Turimagazine and Master Menu magazines.
The chief executive recalled that from 2016 to this date “strong investments” were made in urban and environmental requalification, in the valorization of the seafronts, in the opening of localities and in the restoration and rehabilitation of historical, cultural and religious heritage, precisely to provide the localities with quality of life for people and attractiveness for tourism activity.
“Over the next five years, the Government will invest about 50 million euros [5.5 billion escudos] in the Tourism Operational Programme. A good tourist environment, valorization and promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – the Cidade Velha and morna”, he pointed out.
