Government and CMSV want to take advantage of Porto’s experience to improve neighborhoods in São Vicente – Augusto Neves

Mindelo, Feb 7 (Inforpress) – The Mayor of São Vicente said that he intends, together with the Government, to take advantage of Porto’s experience, Portugal, to improve the outskirts of São Vicente within the framework of the ‘Other Neighborhoods’ requalification project.

Augusto Neves was speaking to the press on Thursday, after accompanying the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, on a visit to the Alto Bomba area, where the ‘Other Neighborhoods’ project is ongoing and the Covada de Bruxa, which will receive a similar intervention.

According to the mayor, the City Hall of Porto has “enormous experience” in the restoration of infrastructures and, therefore, the idea is to see how its team and technicians can “help in the improvement of infrastructures” in São Vicente and everything that can be done to “transform the city into a better tourist destination”.

“Several pieces of equipment here in São Vicente are the result of twinning with the the City Hall of Porto. We have the case of the fish market and  Dom Luís Square, which still needs to complete. There is a lot of good twinning, we have been talking for a long time in order to give more strength to this twinning”, said Augusto Neves, for whom his counterpart “knows São Vicente well and will bring a lot of good to the island”.
