Praia, Apr 22 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean Football Federation (FCF) already has a positive response from the Government to guarantee old-age pensions to former Cabo Verdean international footballers who had been complaining about the contribution made to the country through the national team.
In an interview with Inforpress, the federative leader explained that he intervened with the Ministry of Sports and is already possible that these footballers, who once represented the national colors, receive the pension, according to legal requirements, since some of them suffer from injuries from his football activity.
Mário Semedo, who has been working on this project with some former athletes, such as ex-scorer Zé di Nhana, one of the references of the first ever nationalfootball team of Cabo Verde, in the 1970s, and who has been ahead of this “representative commission”, said that they are already aware of the result of these efforts.
At the moment, he explained, it is awaiting the amendment of the law in order to allow a pension to be granted to former football internationals, within the framework of an existing rule in other sectors such as culture.
