Mindelo, Aug 11 (Inforpress) – The Clube Sportivo Mindelense today issued a statement announcing the “impossibility” of its football team travel to the island of São Nicolau for the first leg of the national championships semi-finals.
As reported by Inforpress Agency on Thursday, Mindelense no longer participates in any competition this season, and in relation to the game scheduled for Sunday in São Nicolau, the club claims it is impossible to gather the necessary number of footballers, “long ago” demobilized.
“We sent the delegation’s list to the federation in order to mobilize a few more athletes, but we did not get it and, because we did not get it, the seven athletes previously mobilized, two gave up because they came from another island and claimed family reasons to leave in their vacations,” reads the statement of the Clube Sportivo Mindelense, signed by the chairman, Daniel de Jesus.
In a statement dated August 9, the Cabo Verdean Football Federation (FCF) announced that they have scheduled the repetition of the national championships semi-finals game for next Sunday at Orlando Rodrigues Stadium, in Tarrafal de São Nicolau, at 4:00 p.m. between Ultramarina and Mindelense.
The first-leg match, which was to take place in June, was not carried out after two delays and a frenzy involving the “disappearance” of the keys to open the gates of the Orlando Rodrigues Stadium.
