Sao Filipe, April 17 (Inforpress) – The project to rehabilitate the Monte Grande neighborhood, which houses 70 displaced families from Cha das Caldeiras, that should start in December has not started due to problems related to landowners’ authorization.
After four months of waiting and with a negotiating process underway, this Friday the Mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo personally went to Monte Grande to establish contacts with one of the land co-owners in order to unlock the situation and allow the start of works.
The requalification project essentially consists in the construction of accesses and interconnection between dwellings, square, sports center, green spaces and the tender for the selection of local contractors to carry out the works was launched and carried out, and even a first tranche of the budget was transferred for contractors recruited, who have been waiting for four months for the implementation of the works.
The plot of land where the 70 dwellings for the displaced people of Cha das Caldeiras were built after April 1995 volcanic eruption in Monte Grande and was ceded by the Pires family, but there have been no steps since then to register the property.
