Fogo: US Emigrant donates consumables to Regional Hospital

São Filipe, Nov 27 (Inforpress) – An emigrant from the United States on Tuesday donated a set of consumables to the São Francisco de Assis regional hospital in Sao Filipe, Fogo Island.

The batch of materials is made up of 10.000 towels and a few dozen sheets that the São Francisco de Assis hospital management will share with the Madre Tereza de Calcuta Nursing Home, which is located near the hospital and which houses dozens of elderly people.

Born in the northern part of the Fogo Island, Asunção Rodrigues Monteiro emigrated to the United States about 20 years ago and in the host country works in connection with hospital and care for the elderly.

Speaking to Inforpress, she said she mobilized the materials to support the most needy people on her island, the reason why she gave the donation to the regional hospital and nursing home.

“I hope I can do more to help the people of the island,” said the emigrant who was on vacation in Fogo, saying she will do her best to mobilize more materials to support people and institutions with difficulties on the island.
