Sao Filipe, Mar 1 (Inforpress) – The president of the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition party) said that “there are no signs” of the “great works promised” for Fogo, but rather “some stagnation, resulting from the lack of politics and vision” from the Government.
Janira Hopffer Almada, who today ends a work visit to socialize the agenda “Cabo Verde for all”, said that the great works promised to the island did not come out of the paper i.e. there is not the medium-sized international airport”, nor the second phase of the circular road and the agricultural technologypark, stressing she received during her visit “many complaints” in relation to the health situation.
“Fogo Island demonstrates the entrepreneurial vein of Cabo Verdeans, a combative perspective, but at the moment the current governance is not being able to interpret and materialize ambition to the extent of the greatness of the island,” advocated the PAICV leader, for whom the island needs a government can interpret and match the ambition the island has with the strategic perspective for its development.
She pointed out that the island has great potential both in terms of agriculture, fisheries, as in tourism with an ex-libris, the volcano, which is not being used for the promotion of tourism.
