São Filipe, Jan 21 (Inforpress) – The traditional São Sebastião flag festival celebrated in various parts of the island of Fogo, was marked, Thursday, with the celebration of a mass in the mother church of São Filipe.
Casa das Bandeiras, whose main purpose is to rescue all the island’s flags’ feast, together with this year’s party planner, given the pandemic situation and to avoid crowding, decided only for the celebration of the mass, but in all locations where it is celebrated the São Sebastião feast there is no record of any activities as in previous years.
Regarding the festivities of the São Filipe flag, the head of the Casa das Bandeiras, Henrique Pires, said that, due to the pandemic situation, everything points to the cancellation of the same as last year.
The organization and the party-goers have scheduled a decision-making meeting for the end of February, but he informed that even if the situation improves, the decision is to cancel the activities to avoid crowding because it may arrive an infected person and spread the virus.
