São Filipe, Jul 22 (Inforpress) – The Reflor-CV Project delegation is in a mission at the island of Fogo to collect contributions for the development of forest systems planning tools, through an extended participation process.

Maria Vasconcelos, consultant to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for the Reflor-CV Project, told Inforpress that the aim is to implement an expanded participation process to enable forest management tools to be appropriate and include the view of people, many of those who have organizational and institutional responsibility , as well as people who live and depend on forests.

The consultant indicated there are two major levels of involvement, one with the entities which have responsibility in governance and the other with users, from farmers, livestock farmers and people who use the forest for their daily life.

“The idea is to ensure the plans and management tools under development include the visions and issues are raised at various levels,” said Maria Vasconcelos, indicating that this process is guided by a team of consultants specialized in this type of methodology and it is based on the auscultation of users and institutions and then systematize the problems and solutions advocated for creating an information base which contains both the problems and solutions.
