São Filipe, May 16 (Inforpress) – The Regional Political Commission of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) today demanded a general inspection of works financed by the Government in the municipalities of São Filipe and Mosteiros “because there are signs of embezzlement of around 100 million escudos ”.
In a press conference today, in the city of São Filipe, the president of the Regional Political Commission of the MpD and deputy elected by the electoral district of Fogo, Filipe Santos, was concerned about the use of funds destined for the rehabilitation of housing of poor families, within the framework of the Requalification, Rehabilitation and Accessibility Program (PRRA) and the Housing Regeneration Program (PRH), for other purposes.
“Unfortunately, there are strong indications of misuse of these funds by the municipal councils of São Filipe and Mosteiros, which signed two protocols of contract-program with the Government to carry out these works, in the amount of around 100 million escudos”, said Filipe Santos, underlining that all tranches were transferred.
Filipe Santos stated that he questions the whereabouts of these values because the programs “Nhá kaza nha grandeza” and “Nha kaza”, from Mosteiros and São Filipe, respectively, in the words of the mayors are financed with municipal resources.
