São Filipe, Oct 22 (Inforpress) – The councilor without portfolio and leader of the Group For Unconditional Love to Sao Filipe (GPAIS – opposition), Luís Pires, admitted that he is a candidate for the 2020 local elections, either with party support or independent.
On the sidelines of a press conference held on Monday to examine the state of implementation of the Salinas project, and addressing a possible candidacy, he said he was, is and will always be at the service of São Filipe development.
“I am a candidate for the development of São Filipe, we are in dialogue with the people and we have started dialogue with PAICV and in a framework of profound transformation that renews, integrates and values everyone, we do not rule out the possibility of a candidature in this framework”, he said.
“On a deeply partisan island, the independent candidacies have little strength,” said Luis Pires, who notes that he is “visibly a leftist man” and everyone knows his ideological identity, but makes his decisions responsibly, listening to everyone and doing what you think is right at the right time.
