The landfill is located South of the irrigated perimeter of Monte Genebra and involves the construction of at least one access road, with an extension of 600 meters and three hydraulic passages (PH) on the three existing water lines between Monte Genebra and the chosen site. Cláudio Santos, within framework of the agreement for the construction of the inter-municipal controlled landfill, recalled that each island or municipality should have its solid waste management plan, and in the case of the Island of Fogo, the plan was prepared by ANAS, under the financing of the Environmental Fund of Portugal and was presented and socialized with all municipalities and social partners in 2019.
